Stop The Violence: Montgomery, AL Rapper And Music Producer YunRo Is Devoted to Changing Lives Through Music

When you are a king, that means you hold yourself to a higher standard.

Every city in the world needs a Roosevelt Williams, a beacon of hope, and a cadence to change. Better known as YunRo, the lyrical rapper is a walking testimony to what self-edification looks like when you allow positivity and God to exist within you.

YunRo is influenced by artists Common and Chance The Rapper, just to name a few. YunRo has penmanship and delivery, no doubt. Through positive rap, he has been able to garnish the attention of his hometown, Montgomery, Alabama.

A Life Undenied

In an interview with Kin + Dignity Magazine, YunRo mentioned, “It was rough growing up in West Montgomery. It was either survive or not.” Growing up, he even moved from West to South Montgomery for a better life but was still faced with being attracted to negativity.

It wasn’t until a guy who he thought was his friend betrayed him and put his life in a very bad predicament. YunRo almost lost his life behind the violence. At the heat of the moment, anything was bound to take a life-altering change.

But not for YunRo. His life was undenied and this lit the flame for him to take action.

His decision to stand up and make a change to stop gun violence sparked a movement in the city of Montgomery and the state of Alabama. At the rate he is going, YunRo is on his way to lighting a fire fostering change through the south and, eventually, the entire nation.

Against All Odds, YunRo Is Making A Difference to Help Others End Violence and Choose Life

YunRo began to mirror what loving himself felt like in the rarest form which involved embracing his daughter and wife.

Another instance that was the straw to ending negativity was the loss of his cousin, and well-known Montgomery rapper, Doe B. (T.I.- Grand Hustle/Interscope Records). YunRo is a warrior for peace and his inner strength flows into his divine mission. This allows him to continuously honor his cousin's life and the lives of countless others who were slain in senseless acts of violence. Walking in the purpose of positivity helps Yunro keep their legacies alive.

In 2020, YunRo dropped a popular track called “Street Life” featuring Chri$ Lowe paying tribute to those who have fallen in gun violence and by the hands of the police. “We gotta help one another,” YunRo states in his lyrics as he encourages those who may be in the ‘street life’ to be about peace and unity and think about the next generation.

In an interview with the Montgomery Advertiser, YunRo said, “You can either choose the streets, or you can choose life. That’s the meaning of Street Life.”

The official video for “Street Life” is an emotional soul-stirring visual that will leave you in deep thought or in total loss for words at the trauma our community faces. YunRo believes in oneness and as kings and queens, we can overcome adversities by working and standing side-by-side.
